2002 Polaris scrambler 500 high output AWD question
#2
You can start off by checking that you have oil in the hubs, plus change it if it's been a while. Best to jack it up with all tires off the ground and you can test the awd system. Both front tires should engage when in gear with awd activated. You should be able to track it down to one side or the other, plus who knows, may be a drive shaft making the noise or a bearing in the front housing.

Then just check sprocket teeth for wear and chain slack. On the ground adjust the chain slack to about 3/8" slack in the middle of the chain. Have the rear wheels off the ground, turn the wheels and see if the chain loosens and tightens up after adjustment. If it does then it could have worn links and may need to be replaced.Plus while you're at check for axle play at the rear concentric housing. If there is play then may be time for new bearings and seals.
