Finally got my oil pressure gauge installed. Trail Tech Voyager, AEM wideband and an off brand oil pressure gauge. Heres a couple pics. Idles just under 20 psi, 5,000 rpm is 75 psi and 8,500 in top gear is "pinned at 100 psi" Can't believe this thing will turn 8500 with 30" tires.

Assuming the tach is right. 1275 rpm idle and gps mph tops at 55 with 30" Mudzillas . I think the stock CDI might limit it to 8,500. A/F at 55 mph is 12.5/1 running a Keihin 155 main jet. It's a manual shift model. It gets to 50 very quickly, the last 5 mph takes a while.

 

Won't win any beauty contest, but tough.

I dynoed her on a Mustang dyno, it would turn the rollers in 5th but the dyno operator had me run it in 4th. Ran her up to 8,500 in 4th . Only 25.5 rwhp, but a whopping 50 ft lbs of tq. Dyno operator said thats about 38 crank hp, so I think they were only 34 or so stock, I'm kinda pleased with my "tuning".

 

That's a lot of coin for that gain...

 

When you have a carb, there is only so much there to gain. Advancing the timing was only $15 for the key but the cam was $200 and change. So, the new 550 models have 50 more cc's, fuel injection, and I believe 40,5 crank hp. So' if I had the bucks, I would probably buy a new AC TRV 550 or even a 700. I also like the styling of the "Jeep Style" front end. They should stick with that styling, hasn't hurt Jeep for 75 years! BTW, I paid $400 for the ATV and another $400 for the tires and 14" AC rims. Once I got the wideband,O2 it was very easy to tune the carb. Also I gained 5 mph with the monster tires. So the perception is, it's a way different machine, feels like it has diesel like torque, and it will pick the front tires up in second gear now. Just saying for guys with older carbed models, there is something you can do.

 

Could you lift the front stock?

 

Not with the heavy Mudzillas. It will actually hit 60 mph on the gps, now after the tuning is finished. I mispoke, it will hit 8500 in 4th, the gps speed screen doesn't have tachometer function, but I finally got her to 60 gps mph, with a windshield. The speedo that shows with tach is wheel sensor, seems to read a mite higher than the gps.
