Default Age range/size for Polaris Rzr170

What is the age range for a kids RZR170? I'm talking realistic, not the legal jargon they put in the fine print.

My 12yr old daughter has almost outgrown their Polaris 90 and my 8yr old isn't strong enough to operate the lousy cable/drum brakes. I'm thinking of switching them to RZR170 but am not sure if they both would be able to drive it.

Website says it is for 10 and up. Haven't been around one for awhile but unless the adult is pretty small I don't think he or she would fit.

I'm not exactly sure either but I think as long as they are probably about 5ft tall and under, they will fit. Its made for kids but a very small adult would fit in one too. The 12 year old would be fine but unless the seat is adjustable, the 8 year might have a little difficulty driving it. Only one way to really find out, go to a dealer and try one out. My local dealer sells rzr 170 clones that cost a lot less than an actual rzr. I'm not sure if the quality is the same but you can buy a brand new one for about 3K. If it would last 5 years, it would last long enough for kids to outgrow it anyway.

My biggest issue with clones is parts supply and quality. We've got a TaoTao 250cc buggy that I'm trying to find a clutch and and CDI box for.

I also have a 3yr old boy that will most likely grow into whatever the girls grow out of so I can see us having a RZR for a long time.

My 12yr old is a bit over 5ft, almost has caught up to the wife(5ft2").

Its funny because the 90 quad came with a sticker saying no riders under 12 yrs old. She's been riding it since she was 10. Now at 12 she looks too big for it.

Since my dealer sells them new, I wouldnt hesitate to buy from them as I assume they would be able to easily get parts for them. But yes they probably aren't as reliable as a actual rzr. I was going to recommend a Hammerhead buggy but I see they are only assembled in the U.S., the parts are made in China. Probably wouldn't be much better than the TaoTao you already have. To get a quality machine that will last and won't require constant repair, its probably better to get the original over some cheap knockoff.

When my son was 7 about to turn 8, he got a RZR 170. It fit him pretty good. Now he's about to turn 9 and he's starting to out grow it. He'll still be able to use it this year and maybe part of next year and then he'll be too tall for it.

The 170 does have an adjustable steering column, but it's got pre-selected detents you can adjust it to. It's not infinitely adjustable. So it's kind of a pain. With the steering wheel and seat adjusted all the way up/back I figure he can use it until he's 10 years old.

I think it's hilarious that they advertise these things for "10 and up" because at that point, the 170 would start getting uncomfy especially for boys.

I am 6'3" and I can ride in the passenger seat for SHORT trips, but I'm folded up like a cheap lawn chair while doing so. It clearly was not made for adults to sit in.

Only way to really tell is to take them with you to go check one out. See how they fit now and see if there is any room for growth.
