Default 2016 Polaris 450 H.O. EPS or 2014 Suzuki King Quad 500 EPS

Hey All,

I am new to the forum and new to the atv world. I have never owned a ATV and looking for something to use around the deer lease. I am not looking for anything too fast but just something to get me to and from the deer stand and haul some corn out to the feeders every now and then. I think I have narrowed my choices down to two machines, both are brand new. The first is a 2016 Polaris Sportsman 450 H.O. with power steering, the other is a 2014 Suzuki King Quad 500 with power steering. First, which one would you recommend and second do I really need power steering, I can get both models cheaper without power steering. Any advice would be appreciated!

I've had 4 atvs and none of them had power steering so while it's nice it's not a necessity in my book.I have a Can Am now but owned 3 polaris atvs and never had any trouble with them

A ATV is easy to steer but one with EPS is easier to steer.
Power steering is a pricy $1000 option. I myself would buy a 750 KQ without it for almost the same price of a 500KQ with it. http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/en...=418792&go2=Go Only a $600 M.S.R.P difference.

Or I would take a 500 KQ without EPS http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/en...=438000&go2=Go and use the $900 M.S.R.P savings on nice aftermarket rims, tires and a winch.

How would the dealer have a 2014 model that is still brand new? One that old should be discounted for sure as that is very old stock that the dealer should really want to get rid of. The 450HO is a less expensive quad that has a little less power than the KQ 500. If they're both the same price, the KQ would be a no brainer though you didn't say that. I have seen the base model 450HO without eps priced at $4999 locally. I doubt you can find a new King Quad 500 for that, probably not even a King Quad 400 which falls short of the hp of the 450HO. I'd test ride both machines to see how they feel. The 450HO should have about the same low end of the KQ 500 as its tuned to make good low end power but it gives up some on top end. The KQ 500 will run 60 mph, the 450HO tops out at 52 mph. 52 mph is still faster than you will probably ever need to go for what you said you were going to use it for anyway. I think you will still find yourself wanting to go for a little trail riding though just for fun, just my guess. And you don't need a super fast machine for that either.
