The style and functionality of a combat boot with the protection and features of a riding boot? Bates Footwear says absolutely:

Those don't have near as much protection as a riding boot. The ankle on that is bendable which equals ankle sprains/broken ankles on jumps

 

These boots are made for casual riders who don't spend a lot of time jumping their ATV. In the article it says they offer all-day comfort both on and off the bike. A riding boot with an ankle that doesn't bend isn't going to be comfortable to walk around in the rest of the day when you aren't riding. With these you wouldn't have to change into something more comfortable after the ride. They aren't made to wear on a professional motocross track but they have their place. They have more ankle protection than the boots I wear.

 

They look like they're trying to find a go between with actual riding boots and just a pair to ride and wear around the campfire. Don't doubt the quality of the boot, I wore Bates brand boots when I had to wear a uniform. I'd still wear my AlpineStars when I rode. Is it a pita to change in an out of boots? Sure it is. But it's worth the hassle to me.

They are pretty comfortable and pretty lightweight for waterproof hiking boots. Might not offer the protection of actual motocross boots but I don't hit motocross jumps on my atv.

 

I wear a pair of Red Wing work boots. Before I started wearing them to ride I had a pair of German combat boots and a pair of American combat boots. After 20+ years they were in bad shape and I finally threw them away. My Red Wings look like this but the soles are different. Wow, those boots cost about $100 more than my red wings. And it killed me to pry open my wallet for the red wings. They are a nice looking boot....but way over my booting budget.

 

On their website those boots only had 5 reviews but they were all 5 stars. It's good to know all that money is getting you something that people think is worth it.

 

Some people have plenty of disposable income. The new tires I put on my 570 cost about $50 less than those boots. Don't get me wrong, they are nice but $300 + for some boots is crazy in my book.

 

You can probably get them resoled if you ever wear the soles out. It cost me $68.88 to get my Red Wings resoled which is a lot cheaper than buying a new pair of boots. Good boots are an investment and when divide the price by how many years they last it doesn't seem as bad. For the amount of riding and camping out I do they would last me the rest of life but that's still a lot more than I want to pay.
