Default 2006 Sportsman 500 AWD issues

I know this subject has been beat to death. Checking to see if I am on the right track. The AWD light comes on with the switch. The speedometer works. The front differential has been removed and no oil. Parts were bead blasted and bearings were replaced. I bought John Deere cage kit, armature plate, thrust bearing and seal kit. I added 5 oz of Demand Drive oil before reinstalling the differential. I don't have any manual, but thought I found right info on a search for oil quantity. Everything went together fine, but AWD still doesn't work. I checked for battery voltage at the two wire connector below the headlight and checked out ok. I was thinking the wires going to the front differential had continuity. Is this correct? I read that the brown/white wire could have a bad speedometer ground. Where do I look or how do I bypass the speedo ground? Thanks.

Yes they can loose ground through the speedo. In the speedo connector jump the brown/white to the brown wire or a good ground position and see if awd works then.
