Default Slight Burning oil smell

I don't think my 09 grizzly 700 uses oil but when I start it up I can smell a bit. Is this normal when starting and before it warms up? Can I put a product into the oil to prevent the "smoking"? Thanks. Lusty

First thing I'd do is a compression test and compare it to what the manual calls for.Wouldn't us these oil "fortifiers" to solve the problem, plus some can slow down oil delivery through the pump. Best way if it's oil smoke is to find out where it's coming from.Leak down test can really help. If rings are really worn you can hear air hiss through the crankcase vent as air passes rings. Valve guide seals and valves you can hear it through the muffler.
