Well I picked up another toy for my son. The price was right and boy do these 2 stokes have some pick up and go. My question is, do they offer a kick start for these? The Outlaw we have has one but this one doesn't. I like to have options. Here is a picture of the side where it should be.

Well it looks like I will pull the cover off this weekend and see what's all behind the black cover. I thought it was strange to not have a kick starter on it.

 

So could the metal housing be behind the black plastic housing?

 

Yes.

 

So I took the black cover off and I didn't see a male stud for the kickstarter. There was a hole but it's empty.

 

All those 90cc two strokes are a converted Chinese scooter engine, but the cheaper versions don't have the kick start mechanism. It is for emergencies only anyway as prolonged use rapidly wears the kick start out. Check if the engine pulley has the gear teeth for the kick start to engage with. Because there are lots of these engines being broken, you could probably pick up a cover with the mechanism in for a few $.

Quick update. I ordered a new used cover with the kick starter attached. I also ordered the Clutch one way 0450245 that attaches to the flywheel on the variator. After getting everything ready to install the clutch one way doesn't attached to the crankshaft due to the crankshaft not being long enough. I'm wondering do I need a different fanwheel or shorter sleeve bushing 0450236. I'm confused. The star on the fan wheel barely fits let along places the one way one. Please help.

 

Again all Polaris youth models we received(produced by Aeon) had kick starters when they were introduced in 2001.The engines are very similar to ones that Eaton used and several other makes.Some of these didn't have kick starters. That's what puzzled me from the beginning on your atv. If the parts won't work,could be that the previous owner may have swapped engines from another machine.
