I hope you guys out there can help me out. I am tired of the cable issue I have.. tends to snap due to my judgement of getting to close to the winch. I am about to go with ploy rope but using U bolt to put as a stop. I thought of low amp draw power lift ram will do better. I have seen a few on the market which is joke on the prices.
There should be a way doing with homemade type.. so what you guys use? simple the better. I prefer electrical power not using oil version hydro type. I want to avoid the worm screw type.. its slower than winch or standard ram power.

 

This is what you would be looking for linear actuator. Now the only issue you would have is pushing the blade down to far..

You could probably make one out of a old window motor as well if you have some good fab skills
