I am going to do it.I am getting rid of the EBS clutch on my Xplorer and allready ordered the Hot Seat NON EBS clutch kit.It should be here tommorrow or Wednesday.I still have my stock clutching, both primary and secondary. The guy at HS said that the EBS really robs from your top end.

Anything I need to know special about installing this kit?I bought a clutch tool today for the primary clutch.I planing on installing the kit while the clutches are off than re-install them. How about changing the secondary Helix? Some guys say this is a little tough.Any tips? Thanks to all,
Bill Ciliberti

MUDDY4LIFE,

I have no suggestions for the clutch kit. But a few questions. What is the idea behind RCR making you a custom PSI pipe? The Dynoport not zesty?

Will the HSP clutch kit will with any pipes?

adamnieman,
the Dynoport pipe is not all that! The fit is horrible. In the rear, the Silencer hangs down about 6 inches lower than the stock pipe,a very poor design.I told the owner of Dynoport that I was a ASI safety instructor and must be at or below the 94db sound level for Michigan and we also require spark arrestors. The pipe got tested last Sunday,it flunked the sound test at 98db.

The owner also claims that his pipes need no re-jetting.That should of brought up my RED flag immediately. How much more performance can a pipe give if it requires no additional re-jetting?Not much is my answer.

The PSI pipe caused me to lose my low end, however,at speeds above 8mph,that pipe hit REAL hard.Rick Ritter told me to send it to him,he would do some tuning to that pipe and see if he can get my low end back for me.He called me a few minutes ago,I'll have the pipe this Friday.

I installed the clutch kit today,I can now pick up my front end in HIGH range. It really comes WAY up in LOW range.

I learned a valuable lesson today about clutch kits? What a rip off for so very few parts. The primary spring is differant from stock,so are the weights. The secondary spring is differant, but the 60 dollar Helix has about the same angle as the stock one.I could of saved 60 dollars by NOT buying a Helix.I learned something today.

are the clutch kits similar for all polariss? Do you think its a waste of money for a scrambler 400 2wd? Can the springs be purchased seperately? thanks for the help. wil

You can purchase everything separate if you want and you know which springs and wieghts you want, It is a little cheaper to buy the kit though, In my experience I have bought two separate kits and various springs and wieghts, But the best results to date is the HPD complete aggressive clutch kit for the 400's The cost is a little steep at $140 but the all around gain in conjuntion with the pipe is well worth the cost in my book BTW the first kit I bought was with-out the helix, it was $60 bucks cheaper as Bill said but in my case the kit with the helix made all the difference!

I think overall that im happy with the kit, however,I have NEVER ran the quad before WITHOUT EBS,so I have little knowledge of how the quad performed with a standard clutch with no kit.I was just a little astounded as to why Hot Seat would send me a Helix with little to no differance from the stock one?

Let us know how Rick's pipe adjustments work, Bill. I've been following your progress and want to do something similar. I've been talking about it for a while now but I wasn't sure what combination I wanted and I am worried about noise, too. Do you have the part #'s for the springs and weights you used?

Xplorman,
My PSI pipe will be in this Friday.Im not certain if I will have enough time to install it by the time it arrives.Im leaving town on Saturday to ride,so the pipe PROBABLY wont get installed until this Sunday,I'll post the results.

I beleive the weights that HS sent me were 45 grams. They sent me a Blue primary spring and a white secondary spring. The HS helix is 45/40,allmost the same as stock.

Ok Bill, thanks. Did you talk to RCR about the helix? Maybe it's one of those little things that make a big difference. Have fun this weekend! Hopefully I'll be heading to the Hatfield-McCoy next weekend. A plan is currently in the works. BTW, is there any good riding around Adrian? I'm heading up there in Aug. for a wedding.

In response to you question on whether there is any good riding near Adrian, the answer is no. Adrian is in the southernmost part of Michigan (about 15 miles north of Ohio). All of the public riding areas in Michigan are quite a ways farther north. There is a public riding area in Ohio near Adrian (about 45 minutes), but it is not worth the effort of driving down from Adrian.
