So after I fully rebuilt my 400, I got paranoid about the tranny failing and could not find any threads about the scrambler's drive train reliability for the 400.

Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.

Normally reliable if you do regular oil changes with AGL or suitable oil for chain driven gear cases. The most common weak link is the silent chain. Around 40 bucks,but the hard part is getting the gear case out and installing a new one.

 

Ive heard about those silent chains in the tranny, would you be able to hear it if it was bad? I normally use polaris's gear oil when i change it.

 

You'd hear it and feel it if the silent chain stretches too far. Usually a grinding noise on take off or if bad enough they'll grind and the machine won't move.
