I bought a 400ex last fall, rode it around this winter a couple of times but it mostly sat in the shed. Took it out this spring and it started a little rough and while riding once I got to about half throttle in any gear it would bog down and cut out. Feul is getting to the bowl but now it will only start and run off half a can of ethor! Thanks in advance for any replies

Sounds like a good carb cleaning is in order.

 

Yup...pull the bowl and yank the jets (main & pilot {idle})...clean'm up good and you should be all set...

 

never pulled a carb like this apart before so this should be fun

 

Many on this forum can walk you through it step by step if you need the help...it's a bit intimidating at first, but they are pretty simple and this learning experience will pay huge dividends down the road...
