Default New Warn Winch On New Rancher

Last month I bought a 2016 Rancher TRX TE1 (ES). Dealer was blowing out 2016's for $3,999.00 out the door. When I picked it up I decided to have the dealer swap the standard Maxxis tires out for 26x10x12 Sedona Rip-Saw 8 ply radials all around, as well as Sedona aluminum rims (powder coated black).

Shortly after I mounted a Grizzly 15 cooler on the rear rack using turnbuckles, worked awesome. I also mounted two Pelican cases on the front rack using a method which maintains the internal integrity by not drilling holes in the bottom and using U-bolts. Again, worked great. Solid.

Last week I had cause to measure before I bought a winch and I'm glad I did. Most of the winches (Warn, Superwinch, etc) are approximately 13.9" in width. With the new Sedona tires that was no go for a conventional factory style mount.

I found a USA made Warn XT15 with 40' of synthetic rope and handlebar witch for 199.00. It is new, but discontinued in 2011 I believe when the XT17 was introduced. They are essentially the exact same winch. The XT15 is 1,500 lbs and the XT17, you guessed it, 1,700 lbs. It makes me no difference because I always use a ****** block anyway, which essentially puts me in the 3,000 lb range, and I'm plenty comfortable with that. Lifetime warranty, but that probably means nothing from what I've read.

The XT15 is only 10.9 inches wide, standard depth. I used a KFI mount and the whole thing couldn't have been easier. The biggest PITA was the handlebar switch, and even it wasn't bad. All in all I'm very happy with the winch as it tucks behind the skid plate completely.
