Default 60 mph with Arctic Cat 400

My business partner bought a Royal Enfield 500 Bullet motorcycle. He just got it licensed, tonight he wanted to go for a ride on the road. OK, we have a loop that is almost exactly 10 miles from my house. So I took off on my AC 400, expecting him to go blasting by me. So with the 27" MST's I was able to hold it at about 55 mph on the speedo, except for a couple hills, slowed down to 47 or 48. AC ran flawless! When we got back, I asked why he never passed me? He said, "You were going 60 mph almost the whole way, above 60, the bike feels unstable. I didn't want to tell him, that both of my front tires need balancing ! It was getting a little bouncy. So, actually 55 would figure to be about 60 mph, given the 27" vs 25" stock tire, I guess. With windshield, a rear cargo box, a chain saw and a 250 lb fat guy.

That 400 is quite an overachiever. The newer 500 Arctic Cats aren't any faster. My friends Can-Am Outlander 450L tops out at about the same speed. Still pretty good for a 450cc quad i think, totally stock.

Thanks. Lucky I didn't get a speeding ticket, speed limit was 30 and 45. All I have is a DynoJet Stage 1 kit and gutted exhaust. My old AC 500 had DynoJet, a Web Racing cam, 5 degree timing advance and it was only slightly faster on 30" Mudzillas. 500 had a lot more torque, though. I'm pretty impressed with the old Suzuki motors. I like the fact they hold almost 4L of oil. My 700 Diesel only holds 2.2L. Wouldn't break my heart if Textron went back to them vs the new Kymco motors. Reminds me of Jeep going from the 4.0 inline 6 to the weenie 3.7 V6.

I just bought an Arctic Cat 700 TRV. Put those 27" Outlaw MST'S on. It only runs 60! I've ordered a clutch kit for it. It is a lot quicker getting there, but no faster than the old 400 for top speed! I believe manual transmissions are more efficient.
