Default Trail Boss 250 oil leak

I bought a 1994 Trail Boss 250 that had a small oil leak which I assumed was just a bad line going to the pump. It was oily around the pump area but really hard to pinpoint where the oil was coming from. I cleaned it all up and pulled the carb to rebuild it and while I had everything out of the way, I put all new fuel and oil lines on. The oil pump area is now bone dry. I still have a small spot of oil getting left on the floor under the machine after it has been running. It's not coming from the side the oil pump is on but rather it's over on the side by the clutch. The oil on the floor isn't a clean blue color like it would be if it was straight two stroke oil and it is a bit thinner. Is it possible I might have a bad crank sealcausing the oil and gas mixture to pool up in the lower crankcase and it leaks out after it is done running? Not a huge spot of oil to be concerned with but I would at least like it to keep the bottom of the machine dry and clean, lol.

Thanks,
Mike

Just open the 10mm crank case drain plug and see if anything flows out of it. If the crank case is dry, then could be a seal seeping.

Thanks OPT,

I pulled the drain plug and it was bone dry. I pulled the clutch and that side of the crank was dry also. The seal looked good so I didn't replace it. I pulled the skid plate and it was caked with tons of dirt and oil so maybe it was just some residual oil left over dripping out of the skid plate. Cleaned everything up and couldn't see where anything was seeping. The lines and the pump are both dry. I drove it around the shop for about 20 minutes and parked it. Runs like a top and is very snappy. I guess I will see if I have a spot of oil on the floor tomorrow when I head into work, lol.

Thanks,
Mike
