Default 08 Sportsman 400 HO electrical issue

I have a 08 400 HO sportsman and for the past year I was having trouble with starting using the key. What I was able to figure out was that the wiring going to the key switch seemed to be pulling away from the connector under the cover. I could hold the connector tight and it would start up.
Now when I try to start it i just get a click. It does not matter what I do as far as trying to hold the connector tight it does not do anything but the clicking sound. All the display lights and speedometer and winch work with the key on but will not turn over.
I have not tried taking anything apart yet and wanted to see if I should go ahead and order a new switch or wait until I get it apart.
I can pull start it but the wife rides it around the farm and I dont want her having to worry with pulling it.
Thanks for any help you folks can offer.

Check connections at the battery, solenoid and even the starter cable for any corrosion that could be causing this. Load test the battery if in doubt also as a battery may show good voltage but can fail under a load test. If the connections and battery tests good, then ignition switches are cheap if you narrow it down to that. Ignition Key Switch 2005 2006 2007 2008 Polaris Sportsman 400 500 600 700 800 | eBay
