hello someone is selling a 2008 Polaris Sportsman 500 that I may be interested he's selling it for $3,800 he says it has 110 miles on it and that he's only used it around his house never on trails and it comes with a new plow I was wondering if his price point is good or not. Thanks guys

I was serious I'm just wondering if that's a fair price of what he's asking for it.

A little above KBB but with only 110 miles and a plow, sounds like a good deal if it's true and in good shape..https://www.kbb.com/motorcycles/pola...n-500-ho/2008/ And what most guides do is add miles/hrs to what an average atv should have in 9 years and find an average price range. You'll find some in excellent shape that you can go past the book price or some that are so clean that you can throw the nada and kbb books away.

Does make a little difference, but still depends on the shape and how much he will budge off the price. Rule of thumb is miles divided by hrs to show how fast a machine was driven. Many averaged out to 10mph that I checked. Using 10mph as a guide, times 110 hrs(if that's correct) should be around 1100 miles which still isn't bad especially for an older machine.

oh ok so that's how you figure out your mileage? Sorry I'm new to all this I just thought ATV's had mileage and hours much like a car has mileage. Yeah he has one picture up of the machine it looks good kinda weird looking tires on it compared to what I've seen on a Polaris

He should have a speedometer that shows both total hrs and accumulated mileage, but they also can be deceiving if the wheel speed sensor (that relays speed and mileage to the speedo) has failed. He possibly could have more time/miles on it than he says. Just use KBB as a guide and look the machine over. If in doubt, walk away. Plenty of others out atvs out there to choose from.
