Default Starter runs on

I have a 2006 800 efi sportsman. My starter has just begun to crank non stop regardless of the key position or red power switch. I cleaned the wiring harness (shook off the dried mud) and it was fine for a little bit but now it's back to cranking nonstop. What do I do?

A good cleaning and electrical grease on connections may help.Remove the battery neg wire.Remove the starter wire at the solenoid.Hook the battery neg back up.Check for voltage on the small solenoid wire coming from the ignition switch. Shouldn't be powered up until the ignition switch is in the start position. If it's powered up,possible faulty ignition switch or switch wiring triggering the solenoid. If the wire doesn't show voltage then sounds like the solenoid has a direct short across the posts. If the solenoid is faulty, plenty of them on amazon, ebay for your model.
