I have 2001 and 2008 Scrambler 500's. The fan on the 01 is not kicking on like the newer one does. Can anyone help with trouble shooting?

 

You can apply 12 volts to the fan connector to make sure the fan motor is working ok.The most common cause of fans not kicking on was radiator sensors shorting out.Oem sensor is about 90 bucks but you can get these aftermarket sensors for 26 bucks.COOLING RADIATOR THERMAL SWITCH SENSOR Fits POLARIS 4010161 | eBay The 2008 has an ecm module along with a temp sensor in the head and the fan may kick on quicker than the older sensor in the radiator that's in the 01 model.If the fan still comes on,but takes awhile to do so or short cycles,the sensor may be getting weak and may need to be replaced anyway.
