Default 2001 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO speedometer replacement

OPT, so far you are batting 2 for 2 on my list of problems solved. Here's another:

I need to replace the speedo on this old machine, any recommendations for good dealers selling this?

Also, are there any other similar models that used the same speedo?

Thanks.

This is a hard one as the speedo is expensive new(around 400 bucks) and hard to trust a used one but up to you on this one. Shared year models with these.

There is one place that repairs them I've found.Look at the bottom of the page.Speedometer Repair
If you're inclined to do so there are a couple posts on repairing speedos.http://forums.atvconnection.com/pola...ml#post3232409
KA7OEI's blog: Repair of the speedometer on a Polaris Sportsman 500 4-wheeler Also on some models awd function doesn't work with a faulty speedo. You can jump the brown/white with the brown in the speedo connector to bypass the awd ground from going through the speedo if that happens.

Ok good deal. If I do the repair method, will the odometer miles be accurate?

If I choose to replace with new, will the miles be reset to zero?

Just trying to figure out if it is possible to know the actual machine miles. Thanks.

Speedo miles will be accurate up until the time it broke.. What it actually has is any ones guess. There are videos I've seen on rolling back mileage on the drum, but I'd just leave it as is. A new speedo starts out at zero. Other options that people have used that had to have a speedo is Trail Tech Vapor.Trail Tech || Vapor - Speedometer & Tachometer
