Saw that. I imagine Polaris is going to have to tighten things up on the quality issues now that Can-Am has entered the 50" market. When I was out at the Paiute I saw tons of RZR side by sides that were the 50" model. Would see an occasional Arctic Cat. I imagine Polaris wasn't happy to get the news.

 

I like it. Basé model with 800 for 10k retail. 1000 With dps considerably more but only 50" with 1000cc. Both appear To be the engines in the defender.

 

I sure am glad to more competition in the 50" UTV segment. Has the increased competition already made a difference? Can someone confirm if Polaris increased HP on the 2018 Rzr 900 EPS Trail from 75 HP to 100 HP? I just got this brochure in the mail yesterday, and it sure looks like the 900 EPS Trail is going to be 100 HP this year, unless the brochure is a typo. What do you think?

 

I think that's a typo, the 900 engine never had 100 hp, even when it was in the 900 XP, it was 88 hp. The 2 engines in the Maverick Trail, the 800 and 1000, are detuned a bit as well. I'm sure the Maverick Trail is speed limited as well, just like the 50" Rzrs and Wildcat Trail. About 65 mph is top speed for both of those, I would suspect the Maverick Trail 1000 has a similar speed limiter. The 50" machines are just less stable at higher speeds and easier to flip. The Rzr 570 is limited to 55 mph, I would also guess that's about what the 800 is limited to. If you let these machines go unrestricted the 1000 would probably run 80 mph even with the detuned engine. While that sounds like a hoot, its just a liability concern that Can-Am most likely doesn't want on their hands. Yamaha years ago had tons of lawsuits for rollover accidents with the Rhino. And it wasn't even that fast. Yamaha really limited its speed(about 40 mph stock, even the later efi 700 model) but people still found a way to wreck them and get hurt.
