Default Replacement fuel pump

Does the 2007 Sportsman 500 and Ranger take the same fuel pump?

No. The Ranger 500 before they were mounted in the tank had a round pump mounted under the seat. The carb models atvs that used fuel pumps all used this type. The efi models used a similar tank mounted pump if that's what you have. If ordering one make sure it's for what you have as there may be a slight difference between pumps.

I have a 2007 Polaris 500 and this is what I did instead of buying a new tank assembly. Been running 3 years with no pump problems.

I made a video when I installed the pump. This is a custom install so do at your own risk.

Good video.. The original pumps mostly were the Chinese made Bosch pumps and we had plenty of problems with these on Victory motor cycles. At least these were external and easy to replace. On the atvs I remember at first people used Airtex pumps, then some like you found the Carter pumps would work and now replacement pumps are everywhere on Ebay and Amazon. This was a greedy idea to begin with from Polaris on not offering pumps instead of having to buy the whole tank assembly. On later models they started offering replacement pumps after people already figured this scheme out..People will always find a way to save money. Like the old saying "Necessity is the mother of invention".
