Default 1996 Polaris Magnum 425 4x4 - Shifting Issue

Hi,

I am having shifting issues with my 1996 Polaris Magnum 425 4x4. It is hard to move the shifter from H, L, R - I have to actually hit the shift to move it. Once it is moved it is fine, but hard to get in and out of gear.

Thanks,
Mark

Common problem as the shift box gets wear. Loosen the lock nuts on the rod ends that go into the shift box slides. Remove the two 10 mm nuts holding the linkage arms to the slides. Have the shift lever in neutral. IF there is a lot of back and forth play while in neutral, linkage adjustment may or may not help. Loosen the rod ends to where they drop straight into the slides with no pulling or pressure. Tighten the lock nuts and replace the two nuts on the linkage ends. If this doesn't help, you may need to replace worn parts in the shift box and rod ends if they have a lot of slack. Some parts are becoming NLA. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/po...um-4x4-s968144
