I had the day off from work today, took the old scrambler for a ride on my favorite stomping grounds, doing about 30 miles an hour on a dirt road, I came across a 4x6 piece of slate in the road. I cracked it down and snapped the sprocket right off the axle hub. I had to have my friend's father tow me back 8 miles. When he saw where I was at he said I better call a helicopter to get me out of here. By the way, it was a sportsman 500 4x4 that "showed me the way out".

OH ALMOST FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT WILL NOT WORK BECAUSE THE REAR WHEELS HAVE TO BE SLIPPING IN ORDER FOR THE FRONT WHEELS TO DRIVE BEING THERE WERE NO REAR WHEELS BEING DRIVEN DUE THE SPROCKET BEING BROKEN OFF THE HUB THERE IS NO SLIPPING THEREFOR NO FRONT WHEELS TURNING

I'd have to say you're wrong, based on what I've seen in this scenario. My friend has a Scrambler 500 4x4, and throwing it in 4x4 and using the front 2wd to pull you out will work. He did it last week after he snapped his rear chain. So the front wheel drive option will work, but it will pull all over the place and is a bit harder to steer...

Thegutlesswonder is right. My friend broke his rear chain on his 97 sc400 4X4 and he got it home in "Front wheel drive" as long as the chain is out of the way of the rear sprocket it will work. because the sprocket is moving faster than the front wheels, therefore the front wheels kick in.

You can definately run your scrambler with just the front wheel drive. I have done it myself after snapping the chain. Keep in mind, though, that you better have really strong arms if this happens, cause it is a P.I.A to steer with just the front two wheels pulling. ALso, if you have a clutch kit, it makes it that much harder because of clutch engaging at a higher RPM.
