Default 2004 Polaris 600 Twin Issues

2004 Polaris 600 twin
I bought this ride a few weeks ago.

At the time i bought it the previous owner informed me that it needed to warm up a long time, like 10 minutes.
We did that while I talked to him and looked it over. We then took it for a ride together and it ran great.
Bought it and took it to my place. I warmed it up for like 15 minutes and it still was rough going. really didn't run good, it would be sporadic on the throttle, stall when the gas is let off and do some backfiring .
I wanted to use it for ice fishing. It would eventually warm up and could be used to cruise around, but if I had it off for 15 minutes it would be "cold" all over again.

I've seen other posts on this issue and it appears that I have an issue with the DUCATI combo cdi and coil?

Can someone give me a play by play on how to check this? This is my first ever ATV and need a step by step. I don't even know how to take off the "Front Panel".
Then give me some ways to fix?

Thanks for the help.

Adam

Actually you can just grab the front panel at the top and pop up enough to inspect whether it has a separate coil and cdi(Kokusan ignition) or the combo cdi and coil(Ducati) but from your description of how it's running, backfiring, etc does sound like what the Ducati system was noted for. Kit # for the 600 is 2202603 if needed. Instructions for installation are the same as the 700 with the exception one different jumper harness is used. This is still one of the better videos around for this.
