1997 Polaris Xpress 2 stroke issues, need help!

So it starts, but it doesn’t stay running and when it does stay running it starts slowing down randomly and shuts off . I rebuilt the carb and put a new spark plug into it. Not sure why it’s not working

I always start with the basics and work my way up. Have you checked for good spark, fuel and air? Look for any cracks/leaks in the carb boot. Check the fuel line for flow and any kinked, cracked or loose hoses. Let us know...just out of curiosity is the plug wet/dry after it stalls and what color?

What I would do:
1) verify your compression...a low compression motor may start and idle but once warm and expansion occurs you may not have enough compression to keep it running
2) after #1 is verified, I'd have to ask you exactly what you did to "rebuild" the carb...as that means different things to different folks...
3) it sound like a potential fuel starvation issue...if the carb checks out pull the fuel line off the carb and verify good flow from the petcock

if it will run on choke but will die when you shut it off, then it's lacking fuel.
