mag 500 or exp 400
#1
Hi everyone I am new here I have been reading this page for months now and have just become a member. I ride a 300 express but I am buying a new quad in the spring the problem is that where I live everyone rides the 400 exp(we do alot of trail riding)I test drove a brand new mag 500 but it just didn't have the pep of the 400 exp, the question I have is will the 500 eventually "break in" and have more pep or am I spoiled from riding the 2 strokers.?? I really want some input on this before I make the big decision because I think that the 500 mag is a great machine I would love to give it a try but Think I might be unsatisfied. Like I said I have never ridded a 500 mag that has been "BROKE IN"

The difference would be little and hardly noticable. The 500 Magnum would need some serious work to keep up with the 400 Explorer. If you enjoy 2-Strokes the decision should be easy. Buy the Explorer. This will be the last year they are making them. If that scares you (it shouldn't) go with the 500 and shell out even more bucks to get some pep out of the motor. You will put close to $2000 in it to make it run with a 400 Explorer with a pipe, Uni-filter, and clutch work. It will still be heavier.

What!!!! Where did you hear that this is the last year for the 400 Xplorer? I cant amagine that they would discontinue it since it is one of there top sellers. What is it going to be replaced with? Where did you get your information?

Thanks alot for the info I am really leaning for the explorer I wouldn't mind getting something a little different than everyone else but you just can't beat the perforamce of the 2 stroker!! I never heard that about polaris discontinuing the 400 either. Let us know more about that if you have any more info on that.
