Hello, new here and to the polaris atv. I recently got a 2001 sportsman 500. I got it running and it will not go into awd in hi or low but if in reverse with the over ride button pushed awd comes on. Anyone have any suggestions on where to look or how to fix?

 

See if it works in high or low with the override button pushed in. It can help narrow down the problem area.

 

It does not work in either range with the override pushed in

 

Does the dash/speedo show the correct gear it's in? Meaning, if you have it in forward high with the gearshift, does the indicator coincide and say it's in high? If not, I'd lean towards the transmission gear position switches.
