Default Broke the spring/contact for sending unit on fuel pump

Went to remove the fuel pump on 08 sp 500efi because it was always reading empty. While removing it, the float arm got pulled off and ruined the metal spring contact that is used to transfer the fuel level to the gauge. Now the fuel gauge is gone completely on the gauge.
Anyone know how to fix this without buying a whole new pump?

This spring was soldered to the contact and was under the blue plastic piece that also holds on the metal tab that contacts the rheostat or circuit board

I would try taking the white unit apart and soldering the spring, or a new spring, back on if no one has a better idea. It looks like there are tabs holding the front part on. But someone may know a better way to fix it.

the spring is completely unusable, see the picture above, basically I just need the blue piece in the first picture. That piece has the contact and the spring attached to it. Trying to find a float arm assembly, just to use that piece off of it.

Ive been searching all day with no luck, I'm not 100% sure if the spring is connected/soldered to the actual float arm or not, if it isnt then I can find another piece to use

AFAIK you have to buy everything and not just the arm. I guess that was a coil spring. I rewound one for something else a long time ago and it worked for awhile. If you know, or can figure out, what the spring looked like before you could probably find a generic spring to replace it. I've used springs from ink pens to fix a couple of different things, like a broken ratchet wrench that works again. I save springs from other stuff and just stretch them out and/or cut them to length.

that's the problem, I dont have anything to reference it to. Not sure if it was connected to the arm or just the blue clasp. Literally probably a $2 part that I need

Have you pulled the blue plastic part off? There may be a hole or groove on the back, something that would give you an idea of the size. If there's a hole in it you would know what diameter spring went in it, then you could try different lengths until one worked. I can't think of anything else to try at the moment. I'm also wondering if there was a plunger on the spring. I can't imagine it working right if the end of the spring was the only thing making contact.

I ended up buying a used fuel pump assembly (for parts) that just came in the mail today. Should have time tomorrow night to work on it, I'm just removing the float arm assembly from the one I bought. Everything else works.

Cool. I think I would have just ignored the gas gauge. I never trust it anyway.

Yeah, it's different when your selling it. I'd get it working then too. I could have sent you mine since it's the same model ATV. I always look in the tank to double check anyway. But I'd have get up and get dressed to go outside and all that. I'd like to see what the other side of the arm looks like if you don't mind posting a picture of it. I have a metal picture of what I think it could look like and I wonder if it's even close to reality.
