Has anyone seen the latest DirtWheels with the VOR 500cc. It looks pretty tough! Everything on it is aftermarket. That is probably why the article mentioned something about it costing around $15-20,000. That's crazy. It looks like it is set up for extreme motorcross only. The cover said something like "Is the new VOR 500 faster than the raptor?" I think it should worry about the DS personally.

Is it a 2-stroke or 4-stroke?

It's 4-stroke,I would love to take it for a ride.Question now is; What are the chances of this quad being mass produced?
Don't know if this(mass production) was discussed in article, did not get a chance read entire article yet.

DS650DAVE,

I have been in contact with one of the companies that helped build the prototype VOR 500. They are currently doing extensive testing to the machine, allowing them to make any changes necessary for production. Yes they will produce these quads for the U.S. , but it will be limited production. Also, it will not be as aftermarket-customized as they show on the mags. From what I have been told, they're "expectations" are to roll this quad out to the US in the middle of 2002.

Cost will be approx. $12,000.00 Depending on what aftermarket parts will stay on it for production.

My fear is service and support. VOR typically doesn't offer any type of warranty! (THAT'S SCARY)

I will be speaking with these guys all along testing and so on. Anytime I can get new info on the VOR quad, I will pass it along.

Late,
Swytak

The competition is getting thicker by every year. Variety is the spice of life...

Competition is awesome. I'd hate to see any ATV dominate the market for more than a year. If someone isn't making something better each year, we may as well be buying used ATVs. I mean, how much difference is there in a 1990 Banshee and a 2001? BOLD NEW GRAPHICS! Wooo Hoo! Now with so many quality sport machines on the market, no company has the ability to sit back and do nothing unless they want sales figures to drop. (even though they made no changes in all those years, kudos to Yamaha who at least MADE a sport quad or few. Unlike the other major manufacturers.)

I agree about the competition Chris,
I would like to see the big companies dive into a couple more 2strokes before they are completly shut out by the enviromentalists. I would like to trade my quad in next year if there was something that would impress me more than it does. We'll see.

I talk to the sale rep from vor last week and I am getting set up as a var motocycle dealer. he told me they are shooting to have it in full produce for the 2002module year which means before christmas. I rode the vor 503 mx dirtbike thatis the same motor and let me tell you it smoked my DS 650 and my ds is far from stock. and yes he said that the quad that I saw at the dealer show was a $25,000 quad but that the production model with be just as nice and around $12000 when the get the machine into full production I will keep you all updated.
