2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 Ignition problems
#1
Hello friends,
I have a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 with carburetor. The other day I was using my ATV and when I turned it off, there was a buzzing noise under the seat but it went off before I could hop off and figure out where it was coming from. So I tried to start it and got nothing but a click. So I checked the battery and it checked bad. the battery was exactly 1 year old. So I replaced it and tried starting it and the same thing, just a click. So I replaced the solenoid and it started up and ran good for a couple days. Yesterday while I was at work, my wife used my ATV and when she turned the key off she said the engine sputtered and there was something buzzing under the seat and killed the battery after a few minutes. She tried the kill switch also and it didn't do anything. She pointed directly at the starter when I asked her where the buzzing was coming from. Could the starter be the problem here? My battery is currently on 2amp charger. Its been charging for 9 hours and is up to 8V when I checked it this morning. I know its on a slow charge but I thought it would be fully charged in 9 hours. I'm wondering if I toasted another battery. I will check it again when I get off work. Just wanted to see if I could get any advice for when I get home and start working on it. Thanks.

So I got home yesterday and after 24 hours, my battery only made it to 9.7 V. I am going to take the battery back today. Does anyone know if the starter can still work fine but have something wrong with it that would cause the battery to go bad?
