Default Charging through cigarette lighter

Maybe a dumb question, but can I charge my battery with a battery tender, through the cigarette lighter on my 2018 570sp?
Thanks.

Probably, but I would not trust.. never know how heavy the wiring is for a cig lighter. I use the plug with 2 ring adapter with mine. The rings attach to the battery terminals and there is a plug with a cover on it where the tender plugs in. Nw you have charging directly to the battery without going thru the machines wiring. Simply pull the plug, snap on the cover and go riding. Much safer in my opinion...

I agree.
The problem is that some genius at Polaris decided to tuck the battery under the front of the bike, not the rear where they always were. It's impossible to get at it. Just stupid.
There is a relocation kit, and a quicktap kit to put some battery posts up in the front storage. They are both pretty expensive, and the relocate kit is unavailable.
The battery tender is just a real low amperage trickle charger, so I would think the wiring would be ok, but that is a very good thing for me to look into.

The other thing I need to check, is that the cig outlet is powered all the time. Pretty good chance that it is not.
Probably going to have to bite the bullet, and get the quicktap kit.

The extension I have is made by battery tender as an accessory and is about 16-18" long, once connected to your battery you wouldnt need to be fiddled with again. Just find a good location for the plug end, with the snap on cover it is protected from the crud.
My lighter plug stays on all the time but still wouldnt trust charging the battery thru it.

I have that connector also. I just have to buy a new end for it. I had to steal that one for my sprayer when it broke.

You can buy new extensions for only a few bucks then you need not worry about splices.

Just ordered a 4 footer. I'm going to run it up into the front box.

Glad you talked me out of it!
That battery was a real bitch to get at, but I'm happy with how easy it is to connect to it now.
Just have to get a grommet for the hole yet.
