Looks like more of a DDOS attack. The hack distraction pattern wasn't well organized and i would wager it was more of a probe for weaknesses. Also remember big businesses will often hire hackers to do theses attacks to find weaknesses. Most of the time it's internal but people chatter like old biddies so it gets out to the public in general.
