ANYBODY RUNNING AN EGT GAGE
#1
I've just rebiuld the scambler and installed alot of mods.
I'm not going out again with out a e.g.t. gage.
Where is the best location for the probe, Has any body experimended with this? Or are the locations all the same once you get use to it?
Thanks

I run one on mine. The probe should be 6-8" from the flange (where it connects to the manifold). I bought the bullet mount pod and it sits on my nose peice (which is from an SC500). Qiuck pic in my sig "MY 400"
Do check with Darrell at HPD to see where you need to be running though. Different motor packages run at diff temps. My race motor runs around 1150-1200*.
What you do when you have it mounted is turn the gauge so the the target temp you want to hit is at 12 O'clock. So that when you are riding all you have to do is look at make sure the needle isn't past the 12 O'clock position. At high speeds it just makes it easier to read.

I've heard 6" - 8" and also I've heard 4" from the face of the pistion, which puts it 1" - 2" out on the pipe.
I just what to make sure and find out where everyone else is running it and what they get for temps.
I think aluminum melts at around 1325F so the safe range would be below 1200F.
I will check with HPD or RCR though, Thanks.
