2000 Honda Rancher 12" tires??
#1
Hey all,
I recently bought a 2000 Rancher 350 4x4. It has aftermarket tires on it.
Front: 26x10x12 and Rear 26x12x12. The tires have rather large cleats for mud and all and I hate the way it drives and wanted to put more stockish thread tires on it, I do not go mudding or anything.
The factory tires are supposed to be 24x8x12 front and 24x9x11 rear.
So I assume you can't use a 12" tire on an 11" wheel so this means someone previously has put 12" wheels on the rear? The wheels have been painted black so I cannot find any markings on the wheel.
It would be par for the course to spend more money, I should have looked this thing over better, all the ball joints and tie rod ends up front were shot so I already replaced those but the biggie was someone put a Niche cylinder and piston in it, after it got hot it had a horrible rattling piston slap noise so now I have the topend apart, have a Honda OEM cylinder on the way and will probably throw a Wiseco piston in it.

Yes, 11" rims on the rear. Honda have been doing that since the 300 Fourtrax, annoying as 11" tyres are not available in many tread patterns. I would stick those 10" tyres on the back and get some 8" tyres for the fronts, You may still find steering heavy, some just are, it isn't tracking, could be the limited slip diff a bit tight, and permanent 4WD doesn't help, but some non power steering current model 420s are also heavy on the steering and some are not.
