Default klf 300 b smokes

hello,
my 96 klf 300 b smokes heavily after top end rebuild. new cylinder barrel. new piston/rings. new gasket. valves re-seated. new valve guide only on exhaust valve. correct clearance on valves. correct timing. new spark plug.
20 years experience using this machine but cannot cure this new problem of very heavy smoke from exhaust. oil type correct.
could there be too much oil in the crankcase?
(no oil in petrol). any suggestions appreciated.
thank you in anticipation.

Was it smoking badly before the rebuild? As oil collects in the silencer, it would continue to smoke after the rebuild until all the oil in the exhaust has burnt off. That sight glass oil level indicator was always a bad idea, it gets worse as the bike ages, due to contamination of the glass but, with a strong light shone on it, you should be able to make out the oil level. If the glass is full you have too much in. Check the breather pipes are not blocked and correctly routed. It is easy for part of the oil ring to catch on the cylinder as you lower it on, so you could have damaged it, or not seated a valve seal properly.

The initial problem was that the machine would not start. It now starts easily but has a massive smoke problem. It was burning a small amount of oil before the rebuild. Currently the oil level is above the sight glass level. My next attempt will be to lower the oil to the correct level as per the sight glass level. The current level will not be excessively over filled. I will check the breather pipes.
I have never experienced this type of problem before.
