2012 honda rancher 4x4 drive train binding
#1
I got a 2012 Honda Rancher 4x4 eps that feels like the back end is trying to push the front end. The front suspension dips slightly when in 4x4 and then you get a bang and something gives and it will be fine for a little while, then it will do it again. It's kind of always done this, but lately it is getting way worse and the banging sound is getting louder. I have checked the brakes and the bearing and they are fine so it must either be in the diff or in the 4x4 activator thing that is hooked onto the diff. Has anyone had this problem?

Only on a 300 and it was the frame broken behind the front diff. Slight differences in tyre size front to rear resulted in the front end pulling out of the front propshaft every so often. Only did it on asphalt and concrete, as then the tyres couldn't slip slightly to stop the transmission "winding up". However, if front is dipping I would suspect the front diff bearings are shot, or some teeth off the crownwheel. Easy to check by waggling the propshaft, there shouldn't be any lift, then the LH driveshaft with the filler plug out, CV driveshafts are always a bit loose on the splines, but if the crownwheel moves up and down, the bearings are shot.
