Well, I finally did it. I had my first major crash on my TBoss Sunday. I think this makes me an official rider now.

I was riding on a pretty serious MX track and decided to go down a fairly steep hill. I was so busy concentrating on my speed (big hill I was really wanting to go down it as slowly as possible) I completely forgot to shift my weight to the back of the quad. Well the next thing I knew I was headed over the handle bars. I was able to jumpg off before the quad flipped, but I still took a beating.

Somehow my Boss found the left side of my body as it rolled down the hill. I sprained my wrist trying to keep the handlebars from smacking me in the face. Some where between hitting the ground and catching the Boss I bruised a few ribs and my shoulder (I'll bet cha $100 my chest protector would have prevented this, but like an idiot I left it in the car).

I couldn't get leg outta the way in time, so the next thing I see is this big red seat under my foot and I hear this God awful popping sound in my knee. Then I feel a sharp pain shoot down my leg.

In turn, what use to be my knee, is so swollen that it looks like my thigh. The X-rays show no bone damage, but my doc wants me to have an MRI within the next few days. So, i wont' be walking or riding for a while

As for my Boss, it held it's own. The handlebars will have to be re-adjusted, and the throttle lever needs to be tightened. I did however, crack the brake fluid res. Other than that, everything checks out fine.

The dealer wants about a $100 (parts and labor) to fix the brake fluid resevoir. But if it's nothing major I'm wondering if this is something I can do myself?

Anybody ever had to replace this part? Can't I just put the new res on, fill it with fluid, pump the brake lever until the pressure builds up, and go? Or is this gonna be a major undertaking?

Oh yeah, not realizing that the line conected to the brake fluid box was slightly exposed, my buddy started washing my quad. There's a good chance dirt and water may have gotten in the brake line. What sould I do?

i know what your going through with your knee. i slipped in some mud and felt the same thing you did.i just had orthiscope surgery on my knee last tuesday and found out i need acu reconstructive surgery after i heal from this. this means 6 more months off from work, i've bee off work since the end of april. one good thing though,i can use my quad for an outdoor wheelchair! by the way i completely tore one ligament and partaly torn two others. i hope you have a better outcome than i did and have a speedy recovery!

Tough break about the accident. Hope you heal well. As for the brakes, bleeding them is not hard, just time consuming. Great reason to buy a service manual and learn to do things yourself. The savings in labor on one repair will alone pay for the manual. I flipped my wifes trail boss after she owned it about 6 months. She still gives me the evil eye everytime she sees the dent in the front bumper

You are lucky, A guy her e just ate a jackpine with no helmet on. His right side of his skulli s mush and brain matter is exposed plus he has a puntured lung a broken arm and other misc damage, quad is totaled, 40 mph on a sp 500 into a pine the tree won. His eyes respond to light and is breathing on his own but thats about it. 26 years old on a family ride and his girlfriend found him along with his mother. Next day i went and bought two new helments for me and the wife. If he makes it he will be lucky.

Well guys, I finaaly had an MRI and got my results back. I messed my knee up GOOD!!

Bruised knee cap, torn ACL, strained Lateral and Medial Meniscus tendons, and a strained/bruised Patella. So, I gotta have surgery and about 4 weeks of Physical therapy. Which means late July or early August before I can ride again.

Life is so unfair...........

exprider,
That's the funny part, I was cutting across the track on my way to the trails in the woods. Since all the bikers were gone, my friend and I were taking the shortcut, and were even riding the track in the opposite direction. I was going so slow and being so careful!!

Most of the people that saw it, said that they'd never seen anybody have a wreck that bad going that slow!

This thread is a good reminder of how easily you can damage yourself on your ATV. Helmets are a must at all times. I flipped my Sport 400L on two
different occaisions and was luckily not hurt. One other time on my dirt bike I near flipped, crashed into 2 trees, smoked my head off one tree, and broke both my wrists. If not for my helmet that time I would most likely have been
a vegetable. I was very fortunate to only have 2 casts for 4 months. If you think 2 casts is bad try wiping your butt! Ha ha...Anyways, keep those helmets on and stay within your riding abilities.
