I have been looking at a used 250R,can ne 1 tell me if this is a good durable ATV?Also what is the top end on a stock one?I have a polaris 250 now and want something faster and a manual clutch.Would this be a good atv for me?

I have 2 friends one has a 250r thats bone stock and it goes between 55-60mph.It has enough power to lift the front end in 3rd gear. I have another friend that put a pipe on his and it had so much power that it flip you over backwards if gave it to much gas. I'm not sure how fast the one with the pipe would go but it would keep up with a modified polaris 400. I hope this helps

I have an 86 trx250r.It is bored .020 over with a wiseco piston,boyesen reeds,ported for low-mid,FMF gold series fatty pipe,power core 2 silencer,uni filter,152 main jet.I was running stock gearing with 18/11/8 holeshot mx's.
My freind has a stock 2000 trailblazer with 20/11/10 holeshots and some holeshot fronts.
We did 2 drag races one time we started out the same the other I would give him a nice head start.
Lets just say it was brutal!!!!The first time when we started out the same I was screwin around the first half ridin wheelie'e next to him. Then I let her rip and I was gone.15-20 bikes easy. The hill we race up is smooth not steep.about 1/8 mile long.
The 2nd time I gave him about a 1/4 hill head start and took off I can't get the front down till 4th and this with me leaning forward.I blew by him and beat him by the same margin as the first.Maybe 5 bikes more.
There is no contest.
As far as it being reliable it has been great.I hardly ever ride it.But when I do it is a blast.OF course alot of these bikes are getting old and showing all the hard rides they have been through.THings where out.No matter what kind of bike U got. They wear out faster when U ride them hard.
I would get a good look at the bike see if U can handle the power and as long as it is in good shape U will be hooked. There are many people on this furom they have caught the bug also.I could have gotten a new raptor but I kept my R.
