I am getting ready to get a second atv soon. I currently have a 325 Polaris Trail Boss. I like my TB for its great ride and auto tranny but I am tired of dealing with the chain hassle and I want more power. Anyone know how the ride on the 400 Prairie is in comparison? I'm a little concerned with the weight. Does it feel heavy when you are riding? I would classify my TB as a sport utility due to it's trail manners, is the Prairie more utility oriented? How is the reliability on the 400? Any help on these questions or other helpful info would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, I'm not getting rid of the Boss, my wife is really getting into riding so I have to get another machine, bummer (not!) BK

I wouldn't worry about the weight, you're only talking about a 70lbs or so differance. I'm pretty sure the Prairie will still have a much better power to weight ratio than the TrailBoss. I can't say I've ever rode a Prairie, but I've only heard praise about their ride, power and reliability. Whether it be in the magazines or in these forums. Somebody out there has to have some first hand knowledge they can give you though.

There is nothing my prarie 400 hasn't done or gone through. I have beat the CRAP out of it and i have done nothing more then add gas and hit the throttle. I find the speed and power is fine and i am a big boy 6'4" a good 290 pounds and it moves right along. It rides like a caddilac.. DOn't hesitate in getting one.

Definately give the prarie a try. You'll be amazed at what it can do for the $$ spent.
The power is there, the ride is excellent and the maintenance is very minimal. The 4x4 model will do 56 mph+, so I'm sure the 4x2 will do every bit of it. What will your trailboss do? I know you might be concerned with top speed, but it's a good indicator of the power available under the hood.
Don't pay retail either, call the local dealers and find out who will deal on one. With the 650 coming out the dealers are ready to move some other atv's to make room.
Happy riding!
