Getting a Rubi this week and I'll be putting it in the back of my truck. Just wondering if I'm going to be able to close my tail gate. Anyone know if my Ford '99 F150 will have a problem? Or am I going to have to strap it in with the tail gate down?

yes, Oneidgoof, your awesome new Rubicon will fit in the back of a short box pick em up truck just as long as you take out the dog box first!

Dog box must be an Alaska thing. I managed to get my Rubi in the back of my truck once. I was between trailers & was wanting to ride & thought I'd see if it was doable. I had the front wheels raised about 8" & the gate did close... But...... My roller fairlead for my winch was about 2" from the rear window. I decided it wasn't worth it. I didn't trust the factory tiedowns in the box to run with the tail gate down.

Good luck

The tailgate will not close and watch the front bumper because it will take your rear window out. Place a block of wood in front of the front tires to keep it off the rear window and use straps from the rear axle under the bike to the front cargo hooks in the bed of the truck. Worked for me when I bought mine in Mississippi and hauled it to Georgia. I've got a trailer now.

With stock tires mine will not fit in my F150 shortbed extended cab. I can not completely shut the gate without beind on the window with the front bumper. If you hit a bump like this your window will be gone. You should be able to back in it just fine. Once you put bigger tires on it...forget it.

A dog box is for the southern deer hunters who run them with hounds. They use the dog box to stand up on to see the deer with too. I figured you might use one for bird dogs... just a joke though
