I am very confused on what kind of quad to get.I plan on doing alot of different riding.I will be riding with someone who has a Rancher 4x4, i like this quad, but I want something sporty, but still want to go where he goes.I thought about a warrior or 400ex,Will these quads be able to go just about antwhere the rancher goes (within reason)? Please help i don't want to buy something I won/t enjoy!!!

a scrambler would be good, but when i had my grizzly i rode with a trailblazer and a 400ex, i was suprised at the places they could go, they would just get a run and rip through, not deep mud of course but they stayed with us most of the time, and they are easy to pull out,
the 400ex is a blast, i got a raptor for the power, but an ex is pretty fun to whip around and wheelie and it seems to have enough power to at least have fun

Utility quads are not as much fun,but if you want to ride all year in all weather conditions get a
4x4.The sport quads are alot more fun, lots of people make the wrong choice on their primary ride.Of course having both is the best thing, but the cost is alot to come up with.Hope this helps.

I thought I wanted a Rancher for my first quad (Honda reliability, guage package, good looks, etc.) until I rode one. Since ride dirt bikes, I found the Rancher more of a tractor than a sporty fun ride (my opinion). I bought a Scrambler, which I thought was really great until I saw two wheel drive sporty ATV's go pretty much every where I could, and have a lot more fun doing it. I figured that the much lighter weight and great suspension more than made up for the loss of four wheel drive, and I live in Colorado and ride nothing but mountain trails. I sold my Scrambler and bought a Raptor, although I also am really impressed with wife and son's 300ex...
Good luck,
Lorrin Lee

Greetings,

Consider a Wolverine. Its sort of in a sport-utility class by itself

Have you considered a 2X4 Rancher? It would have a more sporty ride than the 4X4. One review article (ATV Magazine, Spring 2000) said, "Over jumps and whoops, the Rancher handled almost as easily as the Honda 300EX sport machine". Any of you 2X4 owners have an opinion?? I'd recomend the 400EX if you go with a sport quad.

You might try hooking up with some riders from your local ATV club. You can usually find several, or more, people who will let you hop on their quads for a few minutes to see how each one feels.

have u considered the Kodiak? its a 2wd/4wd REAL sporty (handles jumps and tight turns VERY well) u can put it in 2wd to ride wide open places, 4wd to go into other places a scrambler wish it could and its a auto...pin it and go. and it stops on a dime

definatly consider a wolverine. stock it faster than a rancher, forman adn 90% of utilitys and just as fast as a scrambler 500! plus it lighter. and you can get tons of mods for it and make it faster than 300ex. mine is my bro has one. at least go to a dealer and test out different machines.
