I've tried a couple different aftermarket performance companies. HPD is easily the best in overall performance, fit and finish, and quality.

I've run both the RCR Mid - Range and currently run the HPD Trail Pipe, which I had Jet-Hot Coated. The stock Scrambler silencer / spark arrestor will work with the HPD pipe and help keep it a little quieter. I changed to a FMF Turbine Core 2 after I got the pipe coated and am very happy with the combo.
Call Rick @ RCR and get him to put together a Stage 1 Kit together for you.
Be careful though, you'll find out that with just a little work the Scrambler will snuff the 400 ex on the open trails. In the mud, there's no comparison...

I agree, either RCR or HPD is the way to go. And both can be bought through RCR. Call rick and tell him what you want, he will walk you through the details. www.rittercycle.com

I happen to have a HPD nickel plated trail for '99 + Scramblers. I'll take $150 for it.

Michaud, whatever you do, don't buy the FmF pipe.

Which is better, the HPD Race Pipe, or the HPD Trail Pipe? I don't know anything. Later.
