What brand of brakes does everyone use?

I just put a set of R series sintered metal EBC brakes on my 400. This is the 1st set of the R's. I put 2 sets of the 84X series on before and wore them out in less than a season of riding. They are too soft and wear out quickly. Especially in the coal region of PA! I'll see how these new one's hold up.
I will say that the sintered metal pads are twice as thick as the standard pads.

I don't really know what kind of EBC's I had. I had them on my quadsport and they lasted 1 year. Thats pretty good considering I ride every day. I took them off again to today and cleaned a little more mud off them. I'm bleeding them right now so maybe they will work better.

Well, I just finished putting 6 hours into working on my 1999 400ex. I redid my valves, lubed the clutch cable, worked on the headlight assembly, and put new brakes all around. The first time I changed my rear brakes(last year) I replaced them(stock) with SBK's. They lasted about a year. Not bad I thought. I recently ordered EBC's for the ex. I got the "R" type. They were supposed to be for muddy conditions, which is where I ride alot. I have never had any experience with EBC's before so I hope they are good quality. Soon to find out.
I have a question about doing brakes. How do you bleed the brakes after installing new pads? I tried to do it the way I thought I was supposed to, but they are pretty spongey(sp?). Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I tried that but my front brake lever almost touched the grip. Never did that before. I must have done something wrong. When I was trying to push the piston in on the right caliper I had to open the master cylinder cap to relieve some pressure. Maybe I sucked in some air then? Agree or disagree? Anyone?

CBRSLIDER: RE: bleading brakes. I have found the easiest way to bleed the brakes, and especially the front ones is to use a syringe and force the fluid from the caliper up to the master cylinder. Just keep pushing it up until you get no more air bubbles.
