I have decided on the Xplorer and I have priced it well with several dealers. All dealers seem to be very close in price.

Pricing is tricky when assembly and dealer prep is added. A local dealer in Conroe does not gouge for this added expense. Is this prep/assembly fee a scam?

The best price I have found is $5,500 which includes a winch (winch is free until June 30, 01) and registration ($74). I am using it for farm use so I will not be paying tax.

All dealers are in the Houston metro area.

I have a 1993 Trail Boss with new tires, belt and a fresh Wiseco piston bored .020. It is a clean machine that runs like a top. I am considering selling it @ $1,800. Is this too much for an asking price?

I paid $5678 with winch for my 2000 in vermont and my friend paid $5700 in vermont for his 2001,so it sounds like you have a good deal going with the winch and all. Great machine for the money. You'll like it. Conn was $300 more.

Thor,

Does this offer include the winch deal?

Does it come shipped assembled?

Do local dealers have to do waruntee work on machines they do not sell?

Is $4690 the price for an Xplorer delivered to Texas?

Greetings Weedy,

This is just an example of prices in our area.

Winch included? don't know

Assembled? Yes

Yes your local dealer has to do warranty work.

(If he is telling you otherwise, shop somewhere else, he is not going to be your friend when you really need him)

You are kidding right? But this is what your local dealer could also sell it for if he was aggressive. We can buy 2001 Xplorers all over the Twin Cities for $4,999 every day.

That is a hell of a price! He is quoting $5500 but we have not sat down and hashed it out. I think he will go 5200 or 5300. There is a winch offer until June 30.

i beleive dealer cost on a 2001 400 explorer is about $4850 (including his cost for freight and set up)...anything above this is profit for the dealer. Obviously, the dealer needs to make something to stay in business but how much is fair....?

Josam

I am going to shoot for $5200. It cost $76 to regiter and title so what do you think of a $5275 price out the door.
