ok...i just got my raptor...and have been buying accessories for it...got the full skids and nerf bars...here is my question... i need snow tires for the winter as the stock raptor tires suck in snow...can any one offer up some ideas as to what i should get....here are the constraints tho...i dont want to get a tire that is more than 20" in diameter...not ready to change the rear axl...someday i will change out the axl...but prolly not before next summmer...can anyone give me a clue to any manufacturer's who make a great snow/mud tire that does not exceed 20" in diameter...i heard that the stock honda tires are great for snow...any thoughts on this...please let me know....i have research all the common tire manufacturer's but did not find any tires that fall within my constraints....herbdon out...

2 of m friends have 21" mudsharks on their banshees. they go good in the snow and stuff, the only thing is they weigh some and make it a little slower.

Well, I guess I dont understand why they cant be bigger than 20 inches. The bigger the tire, the more ground clearance you will recieve, and you want ground clearance in the snow. Personally, I think the absolute best tire out there would be my 22x12x9 Pure sport realitors. You just cant beat them in snow or mud, and they do fine in the sand too. The best all around tire i have found.

THE ONLY REASON I WANT TO STAY WITH A 20" TIRE FOR NOW...IS THAT I DONT WANT TO GET THE 12 TOOTH SPROKET AND WIDER AXEL YET...IN ADDITION IF I GO WITH THE PURE SPORTS, WHICH ARE THE TIRES THAT I LIKED THE BEST...22" TIRES WILL GIVE ME MORE CLEARANCE...BUT IT WILL ALSO MOVE THE CENTER OF GRAVITY HIGHER...HENCE REDUCING THE STABILITY IN POWER SLIDES....TALLER TIRES FORCE ME INTO...12T COUNTER SPROCKET...AND A WIDER AXEL...AND I AM NOT READY FOR THAT...I LIKE THE 20" TIRES...I REALLY DONT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH HITTING THINGS IN THE TRAILS...IF IT WILL HIT MY SKIDS...I PUT MY TIRES ON IT...HEHEH....ALSO..IF I PUT A WIDER AXEL ON MY RAPTOR...I WILL WANT TO GO WITH WIDER A-ARMS....SO DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW WHY I WANT TO STAY WITH 20" TIRES....THERE ARE OTHER ACCESSORIES THAT I WANT TO GET BEFORE THE AXEL AND SPROCKET AND A-ARMS....I HAVE ON ORDER THE GYTR CHASSIS SKID...I AM GETTING THE B/T HYDRAULIC CLUTCH...BIGGUN FULL EXHAUST...REJETTING...AND I MAY..BUT NOT SURE IF I WILL DO IT...AIRBOX MODIFICATIONS...I RIDE IN ALOT OF WATER AND DONT WANT TO SCREW MY ENGINE....SO THAT'S WHERE I STAND FOR NOW....THANKS FOR THE INFO...HIGHLY APPRECIATED....HERBDON OUT...

why do you need to get a wider axle with the taller tires? you can always put spacers on

What I did was took an old set that I had for a while and put ice studs in them. I can't wait till winter so I can try out these tires which we nicknamed, "The Frankentires".

dont worry about that extra inch making it hard to powerslide, it will be fine as long as you know which way to lean, get the realitors

ok...250rampage...as kids my brothers and i use to put screws in our bike tires so we could pedal our bikes on ice...one of the most fun things i did as a kid...when i had my 89 lt250r...and yes i did own one..what an atv...anyway...i put screws in the stock tires...and it worked great...i may do that instead of buying new realitors...which seem to have the best tread pattern for snow and mud...and you can turn them around for either condition...there is a pair of them sitting at my dealership..just have to get the 12t front spocket...as for the powerslides and the wider axel...i never thought the raptor was tippy...i love to hang my %ss of the seat and do frequently...but many are going with the wider stance especially if they are into racing there quad...and i plan to....actually on july 8 and i doing my first race at moto338...aka southwick in Mass... the track is only 45 minutes from me...going to the ama national this weekend...cant wait...should be tons of fun........herbdon out...

Here is an easy trick for directional tires for the snow. Put them on BACKWARDS!!! This makes a HUGE difference in snow and doesn't cost a thing!!!
