On my 99 Bigbear there are a couple of wires comming in/out of the rear break lever. They are covered by a rubber boot on the break handle. Since this machine does not have a break light, can someone enlighten me as to what they are for? My old 87 350ER also had the same wires.

The switch tells the Big Bear when you have the brake pulled in so you can start it in any gear.
