Gary,

If money is no object, then the ones like a Scott are probably the very best. I'm sure that you've seen them on dirt bikes before. They are usually located right at your handlebar clamp. From what I've read, they allow you a wider range of adjustment than the standard shock-type stabilizer. What sounds the best is that they will limit the speed of your wheels turning away from you (like when you clip a stump, tree or rut), but allow it to travel freely back to a centered position. I think most of these type of steering stabilizers run about $350!

If you're like me and not ready to spend that much, and would like to stay around $150 or so, there are a few others to consider. I've heard several people say that they like the Denton and also talked with guys I've ran up on in the trails and they like them too because of having several different positions to choose the amount of stabilization. If you shop around, you can get a rebuildable one for about the same price and a rebuild kit cost around $25. I think PEP and White Bros. make them also.

If you ride a lot, a non-rebuildable one could wear out in a year or so, making a rebuildable one worth the extra money.
