which one has more torque and HP? which one do you thing will accelerate faster and have a higher top speed? it is going to be pretty cool if dirtwheels does a shootout in a year or so with the Kawasaki 650, grizz 660, polaris 700 and whatever else comes along. i just want to hear any comments about the kawa or grizz you have.

I think the Prarie will be faster, but overall the Grizzly will turn out to be the better machine. I think they went a little overboard with the weight saving features on the Prarie and it will prove not to be as strong and reliable, but probably a little faster.

The Grizzly is lighter than the Prairie. Thought you might want to know that.

<< it [Prairie] will prove not to be as strong and reliable >>

How can you say that about the prairie and not the grizzly? Yamaha took even more drastic measures to reduce the weight so they could have the irs suspension. Compare the frame size thickness and you will see what I'm talking about. Also, hopefully the grizz 660 will be more reliable than the raptor 660.

That's a tough one to call, but I can tell you that the Prairie runs very well. My father just bought one, and I had the chance to take it out for a test beating before I sent it down to him in Pennsylvania. I beat a stock 400ex with it and then lined it up against my raptor with my friend riding the raptor. Yes the raptor made short change of it, but until the raptor got traction in 3rd gear I was a couple of bikes ahead of it. The turning was excellent on the Prairie, and it jumped well also. Overall, I think it will be a tough 4 wheel drive to beat all around.

the prarie only goes 1 mph faster stock than a 400ex, just thought you might wanna know that, plus man a scrambler can beat a 400ex, and that's bad. I'm not putting it down, cuz I'd love ot own a prarie 650 they look bad!

I'm sure the Kaw is a very nice quad and it looks good too, not overly big. Does the V-twin have two carbs, etc., more room for error?? I 've read you have to give the Kaw some gas going down x-treme hills in order to get the engine brake to kick in, that sounds kinda weak. I know the ultramatic tranny goes down hills like a Honda foreman in low range. One things for sure, the new griz looks much better than it used to, (in my opinion).

JHAM, no the engine braking is activated by an electronic servo. The engine braking is the best I've ever experienced. I hardly need to use the brakes. (even though the rear is good for 6000 miles before servicing).

Speaking of the brakes, how is that fancy rear one on the Prairie?
