What did you do to get it running? Well if it is a 2-stroke most likely two stroke oil, is it a mixture? or oil injected? go to you polaris dealer and pick-up some 2-stroke oil. I really didnt think they had transmission oil in Polaris, most machines dont, but i dont own one so i wouldnt know.

Cyclone,
If its a 2-stroke, it should either have a oil resevior tank to fill with 2-stroke oil and it will mix it into the carb as needed, otherwise, you "premix" it like a weedeater or chainsaw.. Call your Polaris dealership and he can tell you what the proper mix ratio is and suggest the right oil to use..

As for the transmission oil... if its an AUTO like most other Polaris machines (PVT) Then it DOES require transmission oil in the gearcase. I'm not familiar with that particular machine, but on every other Polaris Automatic i've seen, you drain the gearbox by removing the plug on the bottom of the machine, and its re-filled thru the dipstick hole that is located on the right side of the machine just infront of the output shaft sprocket. You should see a small dipstick and maybe a vent tube right beside it.. The gearcase oil shold be Polaris brand.. Whether you use Synthetic or regular is up to you... But it should be Polaris.
Remember, just DON'T run a two-stroke without KNOWING that oil is getting into the cylinder or your fun will be over with quick!!!...
You oughta get a picture of that and post it on here.. I've never seen one...

I use the Polaris Premium Chaincase Oil in the transmission, because that's what they reccamended, and nobody could tell what else I could use that was the same thing. It's $5 a quart at the dealer.

I went to the polaris shop and bought synthetic gold 2 stroke. then i bought polaris chain case oil. and all that is taken care of. Well im off to do more work!

hey cyclone, if you haven't done it already, i would take off the gas tank, drain that, clean it out good, make sure your gas line is nice and clear, check the fuel filter is there is one, throw a new plug in it. you should really go over all the basics. you at least verified that it does run, so that part is done. grease everything up, chain, brake cables if they are not hydrolic, any grease fittings. it really depends on how long it sat and if it was exposed to the weather. at least you know it runs so thats a good thing. my buddy ahd an older polaris trail boss and it was running like you said, but his would run for about 5, 10 minutes then stall. i think he had something clogged in his fuel filter. if there is one, it should be inline with the gasline just below the tank. so, i would make sure you are getting gas through the line. cleaning the carb is a good idea too. well good luck, keep us posted how you make out.
